RUI University Labs

What is a RUI University learning labs?

Learning Labs promote lifelong learning outside of the scheduled RUI University classes and promote intellectual engagement. These activities build upon an existing class and create a well-rounded and intentional curriculum. The Learning Labs follow the VARK Model of Student Learning which was introduced by Neil Fleming and Educational Theorist. We create RUI University Learning Labs that foster participation from Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing Preference, and Kinesthetic learners.

Visual learners prefer the use of images, maps, and movies to access and understand new information.

Auditory learners best understand new content through listening and discussion like lectures and group debates.

Reading/Writing Learners learn best through words and take lots of notes or read to understand concepts.

Kinesthetic learners are hands-on. They learn best through figuring things out by hand.
