In this 30 minute class, the first in a series of three lectures, certified yoga instructor Jean Thompson will introduce participants to the joys and benefits of yoga. Session 1 will describe and differentiate between pre-classical, classical, and post-classical yoga. Students will learn yoga sutras as well as how yoga can be effective in reducing pain, increasing flexibility and fine and gross motor skills, as well as boosting mental alertness and lowering anxiety and depression.
