The Story of Cinematography

  • Heatherwood Community 9642 Burke Lake Road Burke, VA, 22015 United States (map)

Moving pictures began with an idea to take entertainment beyond the adage of a static picture being worth a thousand words.  Such desire gave rise to the art and science of Cinematography.  Today, we take for granted that news, entertainment, practical instruction, and creative communication are all delivered to us in video format.  Join Dr. Roger Koment this summer in this six lecture series as he examines the origins and evolution of moving pictures as our most powerful form of modern entertainment.  In July the topics will be, “The History of Moving Pictures” and “Talking Motion Pictures”. In August, learn about “Filming in Technicolor” and “3D to CGI Technicolor”. Followed in September with ”Pioneers in Cinematography” and “Movie Epics”.
