In this class, we will explore the work of French artist Georges-Pierre Seurat. Seurat is most well known for his use of color in a unique painting style referred to as pointillism. In this technique, contrasting dots of paint are applied in patterns to form an image. The class will begin with a lecture examining Seurat’s most famous works. A practicum will follow the lecture. As a group, we will produce a copy of a Seurat work, replicating his technique of pointillism.
