Music Technology and Its Effects on Music of the 20th Century

We will begin by exploring the first recordings on analog tape through modern-day digital electronic recordings. We will move on to discuss how the invention of the multi-track changed how music was recorded and performed. Next, we will study how the distribution of music internationally has created and continues to create new categories of music continuously. Lastly, we will have a philosophical discussion on the pros and cons of music technology as it relates to today’s composers, recording artists, producers, performers and music business people.
