Giants and dwarves, warrior maidens and ghost ships: the mind of Richard Wagner was a kaleidoscope of musical ideas that was bigger than life. Through his music, Wagner expressed sterotypical prejudices that set the stage for Adolph Hitler’s reign of terror some 40 years after the composer’s death. In this presentation, we explore both the genius and the dark side of a man who forever changed the perspective of classical 19th century opera.
